My ebook is done! After over three months of research, writing, re-writing, proofreading, and designing, I’m happy to announce that The Underground Guide to International Volunteering has finally been launched!
I want to thank everyone who offered up ideas for the ebook. I have a great group of readers here who have wonderful ideas and I don’t think I would have even dreamed up an ebook on volunteering without your help.
I’ve done up an information/sales page so head there to learn what you can expect from the ebook and how to buy it. Here’s a quick overview: it’s 63 pages long and costs $14 (with $7 of each sale being donated to Hands On Disaster Response)
Initial responses have been positive and I’m really looking forward to hearing more feedback. I’ve worked really hard on this ebook and I dare say that I’m pretty proud of it. I know how much volunteering has enriched my own travels (and life in general) and I really think the ebook will give people the information and confidence they need to include volunteering in their next trip overseas.

Kirsty – so pleased to hear you have managed to complete the ebook! And it’s so nice to see someone “giving something back” simply for the sake of it rather than in a cynical attempt to get some positive PR. I’m releasing a product myself next month and I am going to be donating some of the profits to a rainforest charity. Can’t wait to see how much I can donate
Not only have you given something back but I’ve had a quick glance of this ebook, and first impressions are that it’s the most professional looking ebook I’ve seen to date. Hoping for good things for it, but definitely worth a look by anyone remotely interested in volunteering.
As well as great content you’ve put the effort into get it well designed and presented – this is a part which many ebooks I’ve seen tend to forget about. One thing is great content, but to finish it off into a well rounded product puts the icing on the cake. Well done.
Great cover design!
Congratulations Kirsty–what an accomplishment. Love the design!
Alan
I am really looking forward to reading the Undergroud Guide to International Volunteering, as I share your ideas that volunteering can be very enriching for both parties. I’m excited to see the advice and tips that you have brought together in this book!
Love the cover design, Kirsty! Looking forward to checking it out soon.
Congratulations Kirsty! Just purchased a copy of your ebook and it looks fantastic. You have done a great job to put it together in such an interesting way and with so much up to date and useful information – well worth the $14. Good luck reaching your goal for Hands On!
Next time our paths cross we’ll have a toast!
Congratulations Kristy for completing this e-book. I wish you luck for the huge success of this book. I also respect your decision of donating half of the sale amount to those who need this.
great news kirsty, and well done, looks great.
Congrats on getting this live.. I’d say their is a future for you in creating eBooks this is far beyond the normal eBook one finds..
I agree that the cover design is great! I’m sure the content is great as well considering the vast amount of volunteer experience you have. Best of luck with sales of this ebook. I look forward to seeing how much of an impact this has on your coming monthly income reports.
Looks incredibly professional – well done for all the hard work!
Kirsty – I bought the book and have enjoyed it so far. Very well done. Thank you for your efforts to support HODR.
Congrats on completing the book and I’m looking forward to getting it soon.
Till then,
Jean
congrats on your release.
Loved the book! Was given one to review and after reading it, paid for it. Great “insider” information.
Well done Kirsty, the review on Our Hiking Blog is here: http://ourhikingblog.com.au/2010/03/international-volunteering-the-underground-guide.html
Congrats on completing this project. I have always wanted to write an ebook but never got around to it. It always seemed to be such an intimidating project. Once you have one ebook under your belt, I’m sure it won’t be long until you write another one.
wow, i havent been on the site for a few weeks due to my travelling, and you already completed this book! Well done. Will definitely grab a copy!
Wicked Kirsty. Sorry just got to visiting it now. You’ve got some natural talents missy! Congratulations on finishing.
This summer, I’d really love to volunteer abroad.
I’ve been looking up missionary/volunteer trips and i came across international volunteer headquarters

How legit are these people? I want to make sure that if I sign up, I won’t be scammed.
Also, would people volunteering in such organizations be way out of my age group? Not that i mind, i would just find it a little sttrange to be as young as i am and travel with only middle aged people.
other organization suggestions would be nice
It was brilliant of you kirsty to write an ebook on this topic i actually got my first real job from volunteering and the boss got to know me and we really hit it off, there was a waiting list and he loved my work so much i was one of the first to not go on a waiting list and get the job.
Love the cover design. Way to go on completing the book!
