WOW tihis is a great way to really show your travels. I hope to travel from the US to Europe next year. I just hope my internet business can keep up with the Euro to dollar exchange rate.
I am enjoying your blog and like it that you dont seem too “worthy”, youre enjoying your travels and having a good time!
I am going next year to cycle up south america and central america, I would appreciate knowing how you are mapping your travels? I know my freinds will be worried if they don’t know where I am!
Hi Kirsty – we have just stumbled on your travel blog, and love it! We are currently in the middle of planning our own RTW, and will likely be stalking you for the next 9 months, keeping up with your adventures. One question I had about this map above…it seems as though you are criss-crossing the globe quite a bit…far be it from me to say this is a bad idea, but it must cost a lot more no? Isn’t it much more financially efficient to keep moving in sort of the same direction?
Yep, it makes no sense whatsoever to criss-cross the globe the way I have been. Keep in mind that I’ve been at this for 2.5 years and also that I’ve been following a disaster relief organisation around the world. That’s the major issue… first Bangladesh, then Haiti, then Indonesia, then Haiti again so that accounts for most of the silly route.
If I wasn’t doing the disaster stuff I would most likely have done a lot more overland travelling.
Oh my god,you really are my idol! Im from italy,im eighteen, and i want be like you! I want travel all the world and help people, meet people, know different culture and different life style!
So,how can I start? In italy there are a lot of “club”,organizzation, and Im very confused!
You think its good pay so much money for help people? for example 3.000 euro for 3 month in Brazil,ex travel,im confused…..really.
Much respect to what you’re doing. Traveling and helping others at the same time is a great form for adventure.
I’m also interested in hearing about the plugin, and how to get started with this.
Good luck and all the best
Great site…you have been to some amazing places. I just got back from my first trip to Europe, visited Poland and Estonia. Itching to travel more so I’m hustling to build up my online income! I like the fact that you show exactly how you are making money, it is helping me a lot. Look forward to reading more from you.
WOW, Kirsty! You sure get around! I did some travelling in Europe in the early 80s when my dad was stationed in Italy with the US Navy. In the late 80s and early 90s I went back to Europe, Israel, Japan, S Korea, Singapore, Columbia, and Nova Scotia when I was in the navy myself. I really enjoyed travelling and experiencing other cultures and I hope to be able to do it again before I get too old to enjoy it. You mentioned that some of your traveling was with a disaster relief organization. My wife and I are with Caring Hearts, Inc which does a lot of disaster relief in the southeastern US, usually due to hurricanes.
You have filled in a lot of the world I must say! I love these maps where it shows the location of where you have been. I think facebook is going to start making this type of map for each person according to their check- ins soon from what I read. You need to make your way to South America though and take one of the Patagonia tours they offer down there. I took one 4 years ago, and it was the most amazing trip I have ever been on. Being able to see the glaciers, mountains, people, and of course the penguins was absolutely life changing for me. Keep up filling your map!
Im also trying to earn a online income so i can do some more bumming around asia i also love extreme challenges http://the-three-peaks-challenge.info/ the most extreme mountain endurance challenge in the UK
She appears to be using the WP_Maps Plugin – http://wpmapsplugin.com/ (it says ‘free for two weeks’ but I have no idea if this guy has ever charged for it or not…
Hey Glenn… I had a custom map builder plugin made for me using a programmer guy from Elance. I had it built for use on my site http://www.livinginkigali.com but it’s pretty transferable.
wow you have traveled around alot but strange you have not been to South American. What is your reason for going to Africa before going to South America? I think most people would do it the other way around so interested to know your reasons.
We have been reading your blog, and enjoy reading everything! We to are planning a RTW trip departing in under 8 months! We see you have been basically everywhere! Would love any feedback about our route http://www.gettingstamped.com/our-trip/our-rout/ and any other advice you may have! Also interested in how to start getting advertising on our website!

Very impressive. So far I’ve been to Canada and Mexico haha. I guess you just have to stop saying “one of these days” and just do it huh?
