May Earnings Update

Published by Kirsty at 11:49 am under Earnings

May came in at $1427 which was a relief after a couple of sub $1000 months in a row. My plans to spend some time living in New York in the autumn are shaping up so I will need to get my earnings up a lot so it’s good to finally see a step in the right direction!

Earnings Breakdown:

  • Google Adsense - $284 - Adsense is creeping up slowly from some pitiful months I’ve had recently and, as usual, I have no idea why. I’m hoping to keep earning at least $300 or around there for the next wee while until my newer sites start to show up in Google and hopefully add to the total.
  • Affiliate Sales - $673 - Same ol’, same ol’.
  • Linkworth - $10 - Not much to say… one advertiser cancelled. I might just  nix these guys altogether.
  • Private Link Sales - $370 - Links sales totaled $370 with most of the money coming from people who contacted me early in the month. A few people cancelled their links
  • Writing - $90 - I wrote up four articles for another blog and raked in a bit of extra cash which was pretty helpful.

On Friday I’m leaving the sweet-ass farm that I’ve been on for a month and heading off into the middle of nowhere in the north of Nicaragua to study Spanish for a few more weeks. No electricity at all there… should be very interesting. At $130 a week for food, accommodation and four hours of one-on-one Spanish lessons, it will be another pretty cheap stint. I think it will be tough for me to be away from the net for a couple of weeks and I’m curious to see how I cope.

Sorry this post is a bit short and crap but I’m having some electricity problems at the moment and have a lot of work to do with very little battery charge and no way to recharge it today. Ah the challenges of working on the road!

This island in the middle of lake Nicaragua seem to be a must see place. From your previous posts, I now have a “dream” picture in my head! Thanks for sharing your adventures.

Hey, that’s good news compared to April. Hope this establishes a trend…

How is your Spanish coming along? Has all that time around native speakers helped?

Good to see you are heading back in the right
Direction, also looks like the income is now
Spread out more evenly suggesting this could be
    Your real base line.

Congratulations on the increase in income for May. I am self employed with my own websites too. It can be frustrating seeing the monthly income below where you want it. It definitely is a good sign when it starts going back up. Hopefully your time away from the net won’t affect your increasing income.

Kirsty, I’m interested to know where you’re staying and learning Spanish for so cheap. Thanks!

Good that your earnings have picked up, mine too leapt a little in May and over the last 4 years its normally up, up and away until September..

2 weeks away from the web. I managed 5 days once and felt very odd.

I will spend more effort on the adsense definitely : )) Hopefully your mini sites will rake in healthy profits in the coming months.

Good work on makin some moula! Have fun studying spanish. How’s that coming along? Did you find the work on Finca Bona Fide difficult with people who didn’t know any English? Thanks again for the updates. Keep up the good work.

I have a feeling my earnings will be hovering around $1000 until my newish sites kick into gear or until I have time to get back to work in a serious way… probably in September. I hope I’m wrong but we’ll see!

Learning a language is hard, but fun and rewarding when you make headway. The farm is pretty chilled so there is always time to find an english speaker if I don’t understand the instructions. Usually though everything is straightforward. It’s a good place to be to practice. I’m hoping that after two or three weeks of intense studying I will be at a level where I can have less baby-talk conversations with the farm staff.

    Kristy,

I love your blog. I also love blogs that keep posting monthly earnings - that’s very inspirational for me. I have a question however - what affiliate programs are you using? The only programs I have used successfuly is INO, which is somewhat relevant to my niche, especially since most of my sites are financial ones.

    Best Regards,

I just found your site and I love that you post monthly earning and explain how you are making (or not making as much) money. This is so helpful for me since I am just starting out and want to do something similar. Thank you for sharing it! :)
