Online in a Bangladeshi Village

Published by Kirsty at 8:01 am under Fundraising

I’m in a pretty remote part of Bangladesh and online without any problems. Very cool. There are actually a whole load of people in the room clicking and tapping away at their computers as well.

I’ll keep this short because I’ve got to go work on my donations page over at my new site but I just wanted to say thanks to Ki from Oslo for Beginners and Samuel from Group Accommodation for $50 each. I thought I’d add your links here in case I don’t finish the new page for a bit.

If anyone else would like to snag a link on my soon to be established fund raising site then check out HODR’s sponser’s page, contribute at least $25 on behalf of me (Kirsty Henderson) and then forward the confirmation email my way. I’ve got tomorrow off so will work on the page tomorrow and have something up and running tomorrow night I hope. These guys really are doing some amazing work here but I think fundraising is always an issue so get involved if you can!

How did you find out about the Hands on volunteer thing?

I have been going over their website and I am pretty impressed by the fact you can just rock up for as long as you want and contribute without having to pay a fee or anything.

Will be donating some money once I find my credit card. Shame they don’t take paypal!!

Yeah, they need a Paypal option. This is a great thing you are doing Kirsty. Looking forward to hearing how it goes.

Found your creditcard yet? I should mention the Paypal thing cuz I think the big boss of the operation is coming shortly. I will for sure do more of these in the future. There are people here who just follow the operation around all over the world. Hands On groupies, I guess. It really is grass roots kind of stuff but it makes a big difference to the people it helps.

    Hi Kirsty,

Did you mention about Paypal ? I am thinking of doing a donation if this option is available…
    Thanks. Fab

Did you have any luck with the Paypal thing? It is incredibly easy to setup and more people would be prepared to pay this way than using a credit card.

I would be more than happy to help if they want Paypal setting up to take website payments?

The guy who started the organisation is here with us now and I’ve mentioned it to him. He just said today that he’ll get onto it asap so I’ll let you guys know when Paypal is up and running. I’m just getting around to building the actual donation page now.
