It took me ages to get to the point where I felt comfortable tweaking my WP theme. It really has more to do with CSS than WP so tinker around with CSS a bit on your other site maybe and start reading up on it. Trial and error is the way forward! I'm not a programmer type either, this stuff is just as tricky for me but I just keep tinkering and eventually figure things out. It's not as difficult as it seems at first.

I need to figure out how to work that works at all. I need to start...pronto! I seem to have all the reasons in the world not to start. I'm still learning, figuring out, etc. etc.

Maybe next week I'll start with the theme if it is what I thought it is. I'll start with WordPress.com, I guess.

Scarrier, huh?

I've got just under two weeks to get all this stuff done and I think it's doable. My plan is to chip away at a few things by working a couple hours at night and then put in a full couple of days on the weekend. I'm going to be going back into anti-social hermit mode but it's a small sacrifice to get this site done and out of my face.

I still need to figure out how I work best. At the moment I do little bits all over the place rather than concentrating on one thing at a time. I could probably do with a more focuses apporach as you've suggested though.

That's quite a list. It's much easier to break this stuff down into more easily manageable tasks. For example... try doing just one of these things a week. It becomes much easier to manage.

Hey Lis check out <a href="http://blogthatoutside.com/2007/10/17/need-some-programming-help-for-your-blog" target="resource window" rel="nofollow">Blog that Outside</a>. The guy that runs it seems to be pretty handy with this sort of stuff and is offering help at some super cheap prices. I'm going to get as far as I can with my own attempts because I want to keep learning but once my patience runs out I'll bring him on board.

I've only recently started having success altering my blog themes. I would never attempt anything too drastic but so far so good. I think the key is finding the theme that matches your website's layout as closely as possible and then go from there. It really is only CSS you need to know... you don't have to touch the PHP stuff, just move it around a bit maybe.

Trial and error is key here for sure. I don't have the time to sit down and really devote myself to learning it but if you've got spare time on your hands upload some themes to a dummy blog and tinker with it until you can tinker no more.

Ooh that's scary - I want to revamp www.midlifetravel.com to do a new front page & a blog but I have no idea how to do a blog theme that matches the existing look of the website which I still like. Perhaps its time to spend some money on a designer or theme designer!
